BMW is preparing to make new changes in the 50th anniversary of the 2022 M department. The biggest change is the electrification of the M model. The next generation M2 is expected to play a role in the process of pushing the electrification technology of BMW M to the world.
The next two series is scheduled to be released in 2022. It is expected that electric power will also generate in an internal combustion engine such as gasoline and diesel. But M2 is different. This is because it will appear in the form of an electric car.
According to the “British Car Magazine”, the development code of the next generation M2 is Project Katharina. As it is developed as an electric car, it is expected to be named IM2 and adds the electric brand “I” of BMW.
The striking part is the power output, and four electric motors in IM2 are responsible for driving wheels, and it is known that it will produce 1341 horsepower power.

Due to its output power exceeding 1300 HP, IM2 can reach 100 km / h within 2 to 2.5 seconds. In addition, power and torque are so large that it may become a car that is more difficult to control.

Since M3 and M4 are traditionally a symbol of BMW M, it is impossible to discard the internal combustion engine to turn to the pure electric vehicle.
